Why cold-rolled coil, strip, and sheet?
Cold rolling occurs when the metal is processed through a cold rolling process below its recrystallization temperature increasing the material strength via strain hardening, also known as work hardening. An additional benefit to cold rolling is that the surface finish is improved while obtaining tighter tolerances compared to hot rolled products. After cold rolling, it is typical to recrystallize the material by annealing and remove the newly formed scale by pickling. Cold-rolled stainless steel products are an excellent choice because of
- Great width selection in coils, strips and sheets
- Excellent dimensional accuracy
- Available in austenitic, ferritic, duplex and martensitic grades, with wide variety of special surfaces
Cold rolled coil, strip and sheet
A wide selection for a variety of use; our cold rolled coil, strip and sheet products are available in both heat- and corrosion resistant forms. In addition, their standard and special surface finishes provide a unique level of customization. These products come in the following stainless-steel types: austenitic, ferritic, duplex and martensitic. Lightweight yet strong, the cold rolled coil, strip and sheet products are fully recyclable and are versatile in application.
The Outokumpu offering includes semi-cold rolled surface RAP®2E: it is cold rolled, heat treated, mechanically descaled and pickled. It is a relatively rough shot blasted finish with cold band dimensional tolerances.
Expertise in production
Outokumpu has the ability to produce coils up to two meters in width in Avesta, Sweden (with the exception of 72 inches, which is produced in in Calvert USA), as well as the most comprehensive thickness range.
Our strip products can be produced in a variety of widths, depending on the gauge required. Using the modern technology, an entire range of strip can be produced to the tightest tolerance. For thinner gauges and narrower strip refer to Outokumpu precision strip offering.
From complete control of the production process – beginning at Outokumpu’s own Kemi mine, the source of chrome used to produce stainless steel – to advanced production efficiencies, unmatched technical expertise and unwavering commitment to quality, Outokumpu delivers significant value to our customers.
