Cast billets and blooms

Outokumpu continuously cast billets and blooms are typically used as feedstock for rolling wire rod or bar and can be used in certain forging applications. We provide a wide range of ferritic, austenitic, duplex, heat resistant, and precipitation hardening stainless steels with consistently high quality and delivery reliability.

Outokumpu continuously cast slabs

Outokumpu continuously cast slabs are typically hot and cold rolled into coil and sheet plate or used in the forging industry. We provide a wide range of ferritic, austenitic, duplex, heat resistant, and precipitation hardening stainless steels with consistently high quality and delivery reliability. 

We also produce 300 mm thick slab, which reduces material wastage and costs in forging applications.

Reducing yield loss by using slab in forging

 

Using slab:

  • 300 mm thick slab replaces ingots in certain applications
  • Cut precise shapes to minimize wastage (nesting)
  • Optimize length of slab to your needs

Using ingot:

  • Removing head and tail results in waste
  • Tapered sides require more processing

End result: > 10% yield benefit

Outokumpu ingots

Outokumpu ingots are usually used for forging and rolling into large heavy billets and bars. We provide stainless steel ingots in a range of grades, along with expert advice for forging and processing.

Ingots are produced by uphill teeming/bottom filling into fixed sized moulds.
