Veronica Sundberg: Solving problems as a team
As a youth, Veronica Sundberg enjoyed solving puzzles as a hobby. As an adult, solving puzzles is her job. A Process Quality Engineer at Degerfors, Veronica works closely with process development. “The best part of my job is that I get to work with so many different things,” she says. “It never gets boring. I love solving problems, and working with the team to find new solutions.”
It’s not all deskwork: She spends as much as half of her time in the plant. “It’s fun to work in production,” she says. “It’s a really good place to work.”
Balancing two perspectives
Veronica also works in technical marketing support, answering questions from Outokumpu customers who need assistance with technical information. It’s been an invaluable experience, she says.
“You get a different perspective when you interact with the customer,” she notes. “In production the focus is often on producing more and producing faster. But it’s very important to always put the customer first. And it’s really useful to get both perspectives: that of production and the customer.”
As a young girl, Veronica imagined a career in the medical industry. “But I was born in Degerfors,” she says, “and stainless steel has been produced here for many hundreds of years. I think stainless steel is in my blood! When I was completing my degree requirements, I began to look at Outokumpu – and I’ve never regretted that decision. This is a good company to work for.”
