HyClean SuperBrush®

A new stainless steel from Avesta Sheffield brings style and superior hygiene to the kitchen

Kitchen appliance manufacturers like Zanussi, Electrolux, Ariston and Mercury are amongst the first to take advantage of a new generation stainless steel, HyClean SuperBrush®, developed specifically for the catering industry by Avesta Sheffield.

Stainless steel is already very popular in the kitchen because of its durability, stylish appeal and resistance to corrosion and impurities, and demand is growing. Avesta Sheffield’s new HyClean SuperBrush stainless steel goes one stage further, providing a smoother, more consistent surface, a deep sheen and improved hygiene. It offers manufacturers the perfect material for their premium products, and gives consumers increased confidence in terms of hygiene and a stylish, attractive kitchen.

One of the first domestic appliance manufacturers in the UK to reap the benefits of SuperBrush is Mercury Appliances Ltd, a new company founded by commercial catering equipment manufacturer Lincat Ltd.

Mercury range cooker

When Mercury Appliances set themselves the task of producing a prestigious, high quality, semi-professional range cooker which incorporated the very latest technology, they called in leading designers Seymour Powell. The sleek styling and distinctive features incorporating superb performance required a high quality material with a contemporary finish. In addition to the existing virtues associated with using stainless steel, the improved qualities of HyClean SuperBrush has helped to ensure that the Mercury range cooker turned heads from the moment of its launch to the trade and its subsequent exhibitions to consumers.

Other applications for HyClean SuperBrush already in production include professional catering equipment, kitchen extractor hoods, refrigeration equipment, microwave ovens and sinks.

Easier to clean

Because HyClean SuperBrush features a smoother surface than conventional stainless steels used in the kitchen, it is even more difficult for dirt & bacteria to become trapped. In fact, in standard Cleaning Tests carried out in controlled laboratory conditions to compare the cleanability of SuperBrush with conventional stainless steels commonly used in kitchen equipment, SuperBrush registered a higher hygiene index than the other stainless steels.

In order to produce the high quality SuperBrush product, Avesta Sheffield has developed an excellent base material, and by controlling the entire steel manufacturing process, Avesta Sheffield can monitor and maintain quality and consistency at every stage*. This means that every sheet of SuperBrush stainless steel has an identical appearance, giving customers' confidence that products in this material, purchased over a period of time, can easily be matched.
