Stainless Steel for Truck Adblue Storage Tanks

For high-performance environments -such as in automotive and truck engines and corrosion resistant storage tanks - stainless steel has proven to be a cost effective, strong, and environmentally sound material.

Sensitive fluids require a stainless solution

Urea, an ultraclean yet corrosive solution central to the exhaust SCR or catalytic process, requires special matrials to be used in the manufacture of Adblue/DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) truck tanks, storage tanks, dispersion piping and pumps.

For several years, a major European automaker has been using Outokumpu's proprietary LDX 2101© for construction of their urea truck tanks. The hight mechanical properties of LDX 2101© allow for a more cost-efficient design. LDX 2101©, developed by Outokumpu to address the historic price volatility of nickel, contains one-fifth the nickel content of ASTM 316L - while delivering nearly twice the strenght and comparable pitting corrosion resistance - at lower cost.

Outokumpu - a leading, global producer of stainless steel - also produces a complete range of the highest quality stainless steel grades acceptable for Adblue/DEF tank production and storage, including ASTM 304, 321, 316L, 316Ti, 316LMo, 317L and 904L. Outokumpu's metallurgical experts can assist you in identifying the most cost-effective stainless steel grade to meet your manufacturing and storage needs.
