In 2006, one of the Group’s targets was to have all its major production plants certified under an environmental management system. At the end of the year a total of 26 stainless steel production sites in Finland, Sweden, Britain and the US had achieved certification in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard for environmental management systems.
All Outokumpu’s production units which have significant environmental aspects have an environmental management system, but some are still making preparations for certification. Ninety-three percent of Group personnel working in production units were employed at sites with certificated environmental management systems in 2006.
