AWARDS FOR THE BEST DOCTORAL AND MASTER’S THESES IN 2005
A reward of € 2 000 for outstanding theses in 2005:
This year the reward for doctoral thesis is granted to two persons:
Dr. Titta Aaltonen, University of Helsinki, was rewarded for her doctoral thesis
”Atomic Layer Deposition of Nobel Metal Thin Films”, and
Dr. Andrey Shilov, Helsinki University of Technology, was rewarded for his doctoral thesis ”Mass Spectrometric Study of Volatile Components in Mould Powders”.
M.Sc. Erno Soinila, Helsinki University of Technology, was rewarded for his
master’s thesis “High Strength Amorphous Copper Alloys”.
M.Sc. Markus Kyläkoski, University of Oulu, was rewarded for his master’s thesis
“Geochemistry and Ore Potential of the Platinum-Group Elements in the Jouttiaapa Formation Representing a Paleoproterozoic Continental Flood Basalt Sequence in the Peräpohja Belt, Northwestern Finland”.
PROFESSOR’S GRANT
Professor Kari Heiskanen, Helsinki University of Technology € 10 000
The grant was awarded to professor Kari Heiskanen to be used for developing
the scientific and technical base for material and metal recycling, and to encourage cross-scientfic research programs. The grant is also an acknowledgement for his work as an innovator in teaching.
