The environmental work is guided by the Group Environmental policy. Management systems and work routines implement this policy at each production site. Today Outokumpu has 26 sites that are certified according to the environmental standard ISO 14001.

Manufacturing stainless steel requires a lot of mineral resources and energy. By using more recycled raw materials and by improving the energy efficiency Outokumpu is improving its environmental performance over time.
