Application examples, Food and Beverage

The high demands imposed on hygiene and corrosion resistance for process equipment within the food and beverage-processing industry stainless steel is the obvious choise of material for such equipment.

Stainless steel has a vital role in the production, processing and handeling of food and beverage. Almost since the birth of stainless steel they have been used as well industrially as in commercial and domestic kitchens in order to ensure a high standard of quality.

In many cases the standard stainless steel of the chromium-nickel type (1.4301 and similar) are quite adequate in these applications. There is, however, a risk of corrosion attack in certain situations, especially when salt is present in sufficiently high concentrations. In such cases higher alloyed grade are called for.

Stainless steel does not affect the taste of food and drink. It is easy to clean and has a high resistance to cleaning agents.
