Outokumpu

Temper rolled

Austenitic stainless steels are chosen for this application due to their high corrosion resistance and the flexibility they offer in mechanical properties offering a variety of tempers, tensile strength and proof strength, as well as elongations.

Material with these elevated properties is produced by a final, carefully controlled process known as temper rolling and finished to the required flatness on a continuous tension levelling line.

Outokumpu offer the widest range of grades and thicknesses in the market, offering better than industry standard control ranges for mechanical properties.

Typical grades used in this application would be:

  • 1.4310
  • 1.4301

Sizes range from typically 0.03 mm to 0.70 mm thick and from 20 mm to 400 mm wide.

Example applications

  • Safety shoe sole
  • Automotive engine gasket
  • Heating controls
  • Electrical connectors
