Duralite™ LDX 2101® Piping System

- the new challenge to standard grade austenitic pipework

Outokumpu now brings the process piping industry a superior alternative to standard grade austenitic pipework installations. Its new Duralite™ LDX 2101® Piping System is durable, corrosion-resistant and cost-effective. There are few limitations to what you can construct and achieve with this new material. What’s more, Outokumpu tubular products' central stocks carry a complete standard product range.

Inspiring and innovative – and available from stock
Duralite™ LDX 2101® Piping System is both inspiring and innovative. It challenges traditional system designs and materials at the same time as it reduces costs. Technically speaking, Duralite™ LDX 2101® offers users a light-weight, thin-wall pressure piping solution generally ranging from DN 15 to DN 600 with a minimum 16-bar operating pressure capability (according to EN 13480-3) at 50°C operating temperature, for all stock standard products.

Duralite™ LDX 2101® standard stock product range includes:

  • Pipes DN 15 to DN 600
  • 90 degree elbows 1.5D DN 15 to DN 600
  • Equal tees DN 15 to DN 400
  • Eccentric and concentric reducers DN 15 to DN 400
  • Pressed collars DN 15 to DN 200
  • Welding rings with necks DN 250 to DN 600

Quick availability is assured both from Central Outokumpu Tubular Products' Stocks and via a growing network of specially selected Independent Partner Distributors for Duralite™ LDX 2101® Piping System covering specific territorial areas.

Other dimensions and products for tailor-made applications are available via fast-track production as required. They are specifically dimensioned to meet defined operating conditions whilst minimizing material thicknesses and thereby costs.

User benefits include weight and cost savings
The end-user benefits of Duralite™ LDX 2101® are many. A number of this steel grade’s most important advantages are highligted below.

Duralite™ LDX 2101® Piping System

Key user benefits of Duralite™ LDX 2101® Piping System:

    • Greater price stability than austenitics 304L/1.4307 to 316L/1.4404
    • High strength allows thinner wall thickness than austenitic grades, giving real potential for weight and cost savings
    • Good resistance to uniform, pitting and crevice corrosion (PRE 26) – equivalent to 316L/1.4404 in many cases.
    • High resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC)
    • Excellent abrasive and erosion resistance
    • Low thermal expansion (similar to carbon steel)
    • Higher thermal conductivity – a big advantage in heat exchangers
    • Very good machining performance
    • Very good weldability
    • Operating range -40 to +250°C

Interchangeable with ANSI based systems
Outokumpu Duralite™ LDX 2101® Piping System kept as standard stock is dimensioned according to one of the most common of all European piping systems – ISO. This gives LDX 2101® the added advantage of being virtually totally interchangeable with ANSI-based systems (except DN 65 and DN 125). Standard stock products have been pre-calculated with a minimum practical wall thickness (1.5 mm or thicker as required) to meet minimum 16-bar operating pressure at 50°C for the full standard stock dimensional range. In general, sizes up to DN 200 will satisfy 40-bar minimum operating conditions at 50°C. Smaller sizes will naturally meet significantly higher values.
