Two new European standards; EN 10088-4, “Technical delivery conditions for sheet/plate and strip of corrosion resisting steels for construction purposes”, and EN 10088-5, “Technical delivery conditions for bars, rods, wire, sections and bright products of corrosion resisting steels for construction purposes”, were published in March and April respectively.

The standards are harmonized to the EU Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC) and have been prepared by the Technical Committee ECISS/TC 23. The majority of Outokumpu stainless steel grades are included in the new standards. EN10088-4 and EN 10088–5 are the first harmonised EN standards to include the lean duplex grade Outokumpu LDX 2101®. This is an important milestone for our standardisation works says Björn Holmberg, coordinator of Outokumpu´s standardisation network. In line with Outokumpu´s strategy to grow the market for special grades, standardisation work is an integrated part of our development of new grades. It is our ambition to have LDX 2101® included in all the most relevant harmonised EN standards. |
