Universum is the global leader in employer branding and yearly they do survey to find the best employers among academic students. In Outokumpu lot of intension has been paid on our reputation among students in Finland and this year Outokumpu raised in the ranking about 40 places! Outokumpu has actively improved relations with students and this year we raised to place 24 in the survey.

Universum is, in collaboration with it´s partners honoring Finnish students, who have achieved excellence within the categories of business, engineering, law and IT. Outokumpu has been a sponsor of the engineering prize in 2007 and again in 2008.
This year the prize of “Engineering Student of the Year 2008” was awarded to Tuomo Vepsäläinen from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland.
Tuomo´s major subject is Strategy and International Business and he was awarded the prize because of his excellent degrees in studies in 3,5 years. Tuomo has also been very active in networking during his studies; he has been in different kind of roles in the students’ union. Tuomo said himself :
- I think the networking is even more important target than success in studies.
Congratulations to Tuomo who is now the number one engineering young talent in Finland!
Tuomo and his avec attended the World Rally Championship Acropolis rally in Greece on May 29th- June 1st together with other Outokumpu guests from Spain and Finland. Tuomo had a brief taste of what he was expecting from the rally when he met BP Ford Abu Dhabi driver Jari-Matti Latvala in the Universum Gala in Helsinki.
