Anders, could you tell us a little bit about the scope of your work? I handle the proactive maintenance and repairs of cranes and gates. These jobs are planned and reported in our maintenance system Maximo. The work is performed throughout the plant, which makes it important for us to collaborate with all of the maintenance units here. The goal for my job is to perform it as efficiently as possible – in other words, to perform world class maintenance.
What was your motivation for applying? It seemed to be the logical next step. Just before this job, I worked at Awetek and mostly with cranes. When they started up the overhead cranes unit, it was simply natural to apply.
Could you tell us something about your responsibilities? As I mentioned before, to produce world-class maintenance of the cranes and gates. Work proactively to avoid production stops.
What are your formal and personal qualifications for this job? I have been a mechanic within industrial production for almost 25 years. Before that, I frequently worked at a farm not far from here. And from all of the experience and training I have received over the years, I still find the common sense I received on the farm to be the most useful.
Are there any special possibilities and advantages with your job? The great part of working in maintenance is all of the challenges and demands that constantly appear. The work demands flexibility and a high level of competence, as well as a good understanding of our equipment. Or else we could outsource our business.
And, finally, what would you tell a possible future colleague about Outokumpu and this job? At the plant in Avesta, we have the possibility to become specialists in our respective areas. This means that you can run your work rather independently. Furthermore, the new investment will bring many new tasks and the possibility to have great maintenance from the very start. We will, for instance, be able to discuss maintenance already at the construction phase to increase to the ease of maintaining the crane or gate. And, finally, I have to mention that it is great fun to come here and work with so many good work-mates. |
