An independent survey with more than 12 000 respondents carried out over the last four years has shown that customers visiting Outokumpu’s web site express high levels of satisfaction with the content they find there and this level has been independently verified as being above average for the industry at over 80%. However a common request has been to improve the presentation of Outokumpu’s wide range of stainless steel products and to provide a simple interface to some of the more detailed information that lies behind.
Responding to this request in the spring of this year, Outokumpu set about developing a relatively simple application that includes the vast majority of its product range in a single user friendly interface. The new product tool enables customers to identify in seconds Outokumpu’s complete product range and to establish capabilities in specific grades. Furthermore the tool then allows visitors to Outokumpu’s web site to examine the specifications of the grades they select with detail such as chemistry and mechanical properties readily available, just a click away. Recent testing of the application with a small group customers has revealed that over 90% of them find it easy or very easy to use and that it is a very useful application for their needs.
In the coming months Outokumpu is hoping to develop the application further to include specific contact information so that customers will be able to contact the most relevant sales person for the products they wish to discuss.
