Outokumpu Oyj has been selected as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) - to the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index  as of 18 September 2006. Altogether some 1200 companies were assesses globally on their economic, environmental and social performance. In Europe the amount of assessed companies was 489, in North America 442 and Japan 144. Included were issues such as corporate governance, risk and crisis management, codes of conduct, environmental performance and reporting, talent attraction and retention, labor practice, corporate citizenship and social reporting. The companies are reviewed yearly and monitored continuously.

Outokumpu is commited to corporate responsibility with the aim to have all the three aspects - environmental, economic and social - in balance. This acceptance to a worldwide sustainability index is a good step forward in this work. More information on the Indexes can be found on www.sam-group.com.
