Outokumpu joins a distinguished group of companies supplying the nuclear industry in China’s premier international event for the industry.

China is joining the world’s nuclear energy superpowers, building new nuclear power at a fast pace to fuel the country’s industry and communities. The country has more than 20 reactors under construction and aims at a sixfold increase in its current nuclear power capacity, to reach 60GWe by 2020. Further increases aim at 160GWe by 2030.

As a result, China is a major destination and target for the suppliers of nuclear know-how, technology and other building blocks of the industry including materials. The Number One forum in China for the international nuclear power community is the China International Nuclear Industry Exhibition. Now in its 11th edition, the exhibition serves as an invaluable platform for information exchange and finding opportunities to tap into the Chinese market.

Finland is home to a great deal of nuclear know-how. An umbrella organization for this know-how is FinNuclear, which gathers together the Finnish competence in the field in order to facilitate Finnish companies’ participation in the nuclear power boom. Activities include joint marketing and promotion, information and events. FinNuclear, in close cooperation with the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, will be participating in the 11th China International Nuclear Industry Exhibition with five member companies including Outokumpu.

Outokumpu has served the nuclear industry reliably and safely for close to half a century and is today recognized by all major nuclear engineering companies. Applications of Outokumpu’s high-quality products are found in nuclear power plants, nuclear waste transport, and storage casks.   Outokumpu meets the nuclear industry’s most stringent quality requirements for reactor core applications in tubular, bar and flat product categories. Outokumpu is recognized worldwide for its extensive range of special grades, which include heat-resistant, super-austenitic, duplex and super-duplex grades. For nuclear waste storage, Outokumpu has developed a range of Radionox grades with Boron content up to 2%.

The joint booth of the Finnish delegation will be manned by representatives of the participating companies and organizations. Outokumpu will be represented by Chang-Ching Sun, Chief Representative, Outokumpu Asia Pacific Ltd (Beijing), and the energy segment experts Francois Weisang-Hoinard and Ola Svensson.
