3. Work environment plan and risk analyses
A work environment plan must be drawn up at an early stage. It must evolve with the construction and plant-related work it covers. The goal of the work environment plan is the elimination, right from the planning stage, of all risk of incidents and accidents for construction and maintenance staff. This means that, before the worksite is set up, the risks connected with the intended work must be analysed.
Avesta Steelworks runs a continuous programme of risk analyses. The goals of risk analyses are the systematic identification of potential accidents and the compilation of data for the evaluation of the risks. For the purpose of risk analyses, large production lines are split up into several units. Dialogue between the members of the analysis groups results in the identification of possible accidents. This, in turn, leads to the drawing up of action plans for improvements.
