Australian Service Center held an Open Day event

​Outokumpu’s Service Centre in Melbourne, Australia held an Open Day event for its wide customer base in March and it was a resounding success. More than 60 customers attended from a diverse range of industry sectors including hospitality, manufacturing, fabrication, distribution and building and construction.

Outokumpu Australia General Manager, Peter George said this type of event in the Australian industry was sadly lacking: “The event was aimed at educating Outokumpu customers, and the wider market, about the opportunities with stainless steel,” he said.

At the event customers got insight of Outokumpu’s invention of stainless steel over 100 years ago and case studies of successful Australian and Outokumpu global projects as well as wide product offering in the market. The main themes covered by the presentations were an overview of current supply sources, global mega trends affecting demand, current pricing, customer service initiatives and the APAC outlook for 2015.

With headsets, safety vests and hard caps in place, guests were then guided by Operations Manager, David Simpson on three production line tours which included processing actual orders on the Coil Polishing Line, Cut to Length Line and Sheet Polisher Line.
