Outokumpu Forta, T​​herma and Ultra ranges to combat corrosion

  • Ultra range (PRE >27) for extremely corrosive environments when there are wet-corrosion challenges of your application.

Outokump​​u’s expert voice on atmospheric corrosion resistance of stainless steel in Middle East

Lena Wegrelius, Corrosion & process chemistry manager at Outokumpu’s research center in Avesta, Sweden gives a presentation on a study on the corrosion resistance of stainless steel:  “Atmospheric corrosion resistance of stainless steel in Middle East: Result of field exposure program in various environments”.

Study was conducted during four years’ testing period and the paper is authored by Sukanya Hägg Mameng from our Corrosion & Process Chemistry department. Eight different stainless steel grades in ferritic, austenitic and duplex grades were selected to compare the atmospheric corrosion resistance marine site, semi-marine site in Dubai and rural site in Saudi Arabia. Results were analyzed in terms of corrosion performance and appearance rating. The evaluation obtained gives the material ranking and guidance for stainless steel selection under various environments in Middle East.
