Outokumpu will be participating in the SIMEI@drinktec 2017 in Munich, Germany, on September 11-15 at the Munich Exhibition Centre. You can meet us in Hall C2 at booth 240.

The SIMEI, organized by the Unione Italiana Vini Società Cooperative (UIV) is considered the world's leading trade fair for wine technology. It is celebrating its premiere at drinktec in 2017 and will alternate between Italy and Munich in the future. On a separate SIMEI exhibition space all kinds of machinery and equipment for wine-making and wine treatment will be shown.

Outokumpu is presenting its stainless steel selection and surface finishes for the wine and drink industry.

At the Simei Outokumpu will showcase multiple applications of stainless steel in the wine and drink industry like storage tank solutions, kegs, processing and affiliated applications.

Outokumpu’s offering for the food & drink industry covers the full range of stainless steel grades.

  • Duplex grades like Forta LDX 2101 and Forta DX 2304 are very good alternatives for the traditional austenitic grades in large volume tanks due to the material thickness reduction and, consequently, a large reduction in costs.
  • Austenitics like Core 304L/4307, Core 301LN/4318 for beer kegs or Core 304L/4307 and Supra 316plus for smaller and medium size storage and fermentation tanks. Ultra 254 SMO is ideal for evaporation applications due to its excellent resistance to corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.
The Outokumpu service center network covers the main wine producing areas in Europe with the strong capability for delivering tailor-made parts, polished and brushed surface finishes, plasma and laser and water-jet cutting as well as sawing, press braking and edge preparation for welding.

Why stainless steel?

Exceptional hygiene, safety, strength and formability - these are some of the properties that have made stainless steel the material of choice for a wide range of food & drink applications. The widespread use of stainless steel in the food & drink industry reflects the fact that stainless steel resists corrosion by most food and beverages.

Just like food & drink processes differ greatly, so do stainless steel grades. Each process sets its own requirements and Outokumpu offers the product range and expertise to help their customers finding the best solution.
