Calvert mill, Alabama

Outokumpu's new and modern integrated stainless steel mill in Calvert, Alabama is the latest addition in the Group's production facilities and currently in the ramp-up phase. The technical ramp-up was completed at the end of 2014, and the target is to reach the full commercial capacity over the coming 2–3 years.

Opening its doors for production in late 2010, Calvert celebrated the opening of its melt shop in late 2012. Operating as a fully integrated mill, customers can expect to see reduced lead times in the future since material was previously brought over on barge from Europe, as well as additional grades beyond 2014.

Available product widths from Coil Americas include 48”, 60”, and 72” with thickness of 22 ga through 10 ga. The Calvert mill produces the only 72” material in the US and NAFTA region, which results in several benefits for customers, including reduced lead times and fewer welds. In addition, Calvert has the ability to slit this wide material down to 36” further enabling customers flexibility with fabrication.

Richburg, South Carolina

Richburg facility manufactures bar products in a wide selection of standard and special materials and grades and in wide range of product forms, including round, square, hex, rod, billet, and blooms. Our bar products are used in valves, fittings, flanges, and other machine components in chemical processing, oil exploration, food and beverage, pulp and paper, aerospace, and in many consumer products.

Outokumpu’s Richburg bar facility provides stainless steel bar solutions by producing exceptional special qualities such as PRODEC® (for improved machinability) available in 303, 304L, and 316L and special grades like 254 SMO®, used for over 20 years to provide longer material life in the most corrosive environments. For stainless steel reinforcing bar and other civil engineering and construction uses, Outokumpu offers a lean duplex LDX 2101, which has comparable pitting corrosion resistance to ASTM 316L, but with only one-fifth of the nickel content and nearly twice the strength. LDX 2101 is equally strong as 2205 in most applications. Our newest grade 303 HST complements the product portfolio.

The Richburg bar facility has been ISO 9000 approved since 2000.
