​Outokumpu Stainless Ltd. operates four businesses in the UK, located on our site in Sheffield.  This includes a distribution and service centre, melting shop, rod mill and bar finishing unit.  We are continually looking for individuals with the enthusiasm, motivation and adaptability, to inspire others and to make things happen.

Every two years we employ around 15 apprentice trainees within the UK, typically employed in our Engineering department (both Electrical and Mechanical), our Technical and Metallurgical department as well as Operations.

Our Apprenticeship programs run from between three to four years depending upon the discipline, this includes spending one day a week at college and the other four days rotating across all businesses in the UK to allow our Apprentices to develop their skills and competencies.  Apprentices that show commitment and determination have the opportunity to develop further with higher education.  We look for a range of candidates with Grade C or above in English, Maths and Science. Our selection process includes an assessment centre and face-to-face interview.

Placement Students

Every year we employ between 5 – 10 placement students who are undertaking a working placement as part of their university degree.  Candidates are expected to be studying in a related degree with a keen interest in developing a career within their chose field.


Over the last 5 years we have recruited approximately 10 Graduates into Graduate Trainee positions in the UK.  Graduates are typically employed in our Engineering Department as well as our Technical and Metallurgical Department.  Applications are invited from graduates studying relevant degree courses and should expect to achieve a minimum 2:1 in their degree.
