Stainless Pro International Graduate Programme is a two-year programme that acquaints you with Outokumpu's business operations. During the programme you'll develop your competencies and gain valuable experience by working with demanding assignments in different locations. Intense hands-on work and networking within our global team are key elements of the programme.
The main purpose of the programme is to develop future talent for Outokumpu as well as to offer an exciting entry-level position for enthusiastic graduates. Furthermore, the purpose of the programme is to challenge the participants and through varying tasks offer a steep learning curve.
Content of the Programme
Stainless Pro Programme consists of different elements from job rotation "placements" to mentoring and classroom training. Each participant can expect challenges, new experiences as well as experiencing personal and professional growth during the programme. Stainless Pro Programme has received the status of a certified trainee programme in Sweden, for more information please visit www.traineeguiden.se. The requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to receive the certification are e.g. indefinite-term employment (permanent work contract) and starting wage which is the same as for other entry-level positions within the company.
Stainless Pros start the programme at their own home bases. During the first home base period the Pros work with given assignments and tasks and learn about Outokumpu. During the autumn the Pros in cooperation with their home base manager and HR build a learning path for the next 1,5 year. |

Learning Path and Placements
Main part of the learning taking place in the programme happens during the placements, job rotation periods. Each Pro undertakes some 3-4 placements each lasting between 3-6 months. Placements take place in different locations and functions in order to make sure the Pro gets a comprehensive understanding of Outokumpu and its operations. Each placement has its own focus, e.g. sales and marketing, production or group functions. These placements together with other elements, e.g. home base assignment, class room training and mentoring form the learning path.
Since the placements require long absences from home (1-1,5 month at the time) it is crucial that you are certain that you are able to take part in this type of a programme and can also tolerate the feelings of uncertainty at times. At least 2 of the placements take place abroad and due to this cultural sensitivity and international experience and good English skills are a must.
Mentoring and Classroom Training
Stainless Pro Programme consists also mentoring and classroom training. Each Stainless Pro has his/her own mentor who is an experienced senior member of Outokumpu working in different unit and function than the Pro. The mentor's job is to promote intentional learning, which includes capability building through methods such as instructing, coaching, providing experiences, modelling, sharing tacit knowledge, and advising.
The programme also consists of classroom training which provides needed theoretical knowledge for the Pros. The training can be organised for individual Pros at their home base or during the placements or as a common training for all the Pros. The topics for the common training are decided in cooperation with the Pros and can include e.g. facilitation training, project management training or leadership training. The programme participants can expect to have 3-4 common training sessions during the programme.
