A new Reference Photo Guide for Stainless Steel Welds has been issued by Euro-Inox, The European Stainless Steel Development Association. The author of the publication is Björn Holmberg, senior advisor at Outokumpu Stainless, Avesta Research Centre. The photo guide is available as a printed version with 7 detachable folders printed on tear- and wear resistant material for a fee of 10 €. It is also available as a download, free of charge, but with reduced size pictures. Both versions can be ordered at the Euro-Inox homepage.

The Reference Photo Guide for Stainless Steel Welds includes a general text part about welding that covers welding process selection, productivity and surface appearance of welds as well as instructions how to interpret the photo guide and suggestions for further reading. The detachable folders include photos of illustrating different quality levels of welds for 7 welding operations:
GMAW fillet weld in horizontal position (PB)
GMAW fillet weld in horizontal position – short arc (PB)
GMAW fillet weld in horizontal position – spray arc (PB)
FCAW fillet weld in horizontal position (PB)
SMAW fillet weld in horizontal position (PB)
SMAW fillet weld in vertical up position (PF)
GTAW pipe weld (PA rotating)
The detachable folder is meant to be a practical guide for purchasers, architects, designers, inspectors and engineers and the tear- and water resistant paper makes the guide suitable to bring in the harsh environment of the welding shop.
