Slab length is limited to a maximum of 15000mm and slab weight is limited to a maximum of 30 tonnes.

Slab tolerances
Length: The actual delivered slab length will not deviate from the ordered slab length by more than ± 50mm (apart from the last slab of a cast or sequence).
Weight: The actual weight of an individual delivered slab will not deviate from the calculated slab weight in the order by more than ± 200kg (apart from the last slab of a cast or sequence).
Width: The actual delivered slab width will not deviate from the ordered slab width by more than ± 20mm.
Slab surface condition
Slabs are supplied in either ground or black condition as agreed with the customer. Standard Outokumpu practice is to grind the front and back slabs from each cast, and to grind slabs in the case of certain grades and processing restrictions.

Bloom surface condition
Blooms are supplied in the unground condition.

Billet tolerances
Length: The nominal tolerance on billet length is ±50mm. Where a length range is specified the delivered lengths shall be within this range. No lengths shall be delivered below the minimum quoted. Where billets are ordered with a primary length requirement wherever possible a secondary acceptable “short” length should be specified to optimise cast weight and/or cut backs for quality reasons. (The proportion of shorts shall not exceed 10% without prior approval).
Billet surface condition
Billets will normally be supplied as fit for purpose, for example, free from surface defects which will be detrimental after reheating and rolling. Defects present in the cast billet may be removed by spot grinding, corner grinding or full grinding depending on the severity of the defect and at the discretion of the supplier.
Tolerances shown are for guidance only - individual customer requirements should be specified on customer orders.
