January 2012 onwards Outokumpu has three main Business Areas; General Stainless, Specialty Stainless and Ferrochrome.
General Stainless Business Area is responsible for the production and sales of high-volume standard stainless steel products, such as coil and sheet. Specialty Stainless Business Area supplies high value added and customised stainless steel grades, such as hot and cold rolled coil, plate, precision strip and heavy plate. The Ferrochrome Business Area operations include the Kemi Chromite Mine and Tornio Ferrochrome Smelter.
Outokumpu’s Business Areas are supported by Focus Area APAC, which main objective is to strengthen Outokumpu’s presence in the highest growth potential markets for stainless steel in Asia.
Business Areas are responsible for the entire supply chain from purchasing and production through sales all the way to the customer. Marketing is a group level function, integrated into Communications & IR team. The Group-level Research and development functions reports to Head of Ferrochrome.
Coil Service Centres in the relevant sales companies are managed by General Stainless Business Area and will support also the Specialty Stainless Business Line sales. Plate Service Centres belong to Special Plate Business Line.
